Eshaani is a sweet young girl growing up in one of Mumbai’s oldest cooperative housing societies. She lives in a modest two-bedroom home with her parents, Manisha and Bhavesh, her younger brother Sahil, and her beloved grandmother Nalini. Her days are filled with simple joys; playing catch with friends and feeding cows at a nearby sanctuary with Nalini. At night, she shares a bed with Nalini, who sings her lullabies. Her life is simple, but warm and full of promise.

The new home offers more space, separate rooms for the children, a swimming pool, city views, and even a desk that makes Eshaani hope she might finally improve at math. On moving day, Eshaani wakes to a heated argument. She learns her parents and Nalini are divided over the move, and that Nalini refuses to give her blessing. When Eshaani asks what’s wrong, Nalini avoids the truth, but her mother reveals the devastating reality: Nalini will not be moving with them.
Shocked, Eshaani pleads with her grandmother to come along, unable to imagine life without her. But Nalini remains firm. When pressed, she lashes out with harsh judgments about Eshaani’s future, deeply wounding her. Someone she loves more than anyone now seems to believe the least in her.
In that moment, Eshaani is forced to grow up before she is ready
